Another Year Ending

WOW - can you believe that we are at the end of another year? At one time in my life I couldn't wait for the time to fly by. Now I want it to slow down!  2009 seems like it was one big blur - there was so much going on and changes this year.

Scrapbook Connection had some major changes in 2009 - moving from Front Street to our own, very unique, building. It was a long process but well worth it. With that move, there is now an endless to do list.

I'm looking forward to 2010 and some exciting events and classes that we will be holding.

This year look for:
* Chow fundraiser in January - it will be our WINTERFEST - hopefully we will have some (but not too much) snow.

*Birthday parties

*Basic Grey Layout and card classes

*Cricut classes

*Demos, Demos,

*More samples on display

*stamping classes

*Fundraisers - both for causes (Heart, Diabetes) and for local groups

*Crops and crops - gotta get those pages done!

*Giveaways and drawings for products, classes

*How about a contest or two????

*scrapbook garage sale - clean out your supplies that you no longer use - spread the love!

*+ more classes and events (please feel free to send me your ideas and wants)
Check the website http://www.yourscrapbookconnection.com/  for products that are currently in the store (my goal is to keep the inventory current). You can order your products and either pick up in the store or have them shipped to you (shipping charges will apply).

It has been a pleasure seeing all the old faces from Front Street and meeting so many new people at our new store. Thank you for your business in 2009 and I look forward to new and exciting happenings in 2010.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Donna

PS: now to ponder my New Year Resolutions!!!!! What are yours???

Christmas Cards

In case you need a few Christmas Card ideas - here are three ideas

another great use for the drippy goo paper punch

The red in the santa hat has stampendous flock on it and is really cool.  I also used stickles on the snowflakes to give it a nice sparkle.  You can also add white flock or stickles to the pom pom on the hat.

My new favorite die - spellbinders nestabilities labels :)

These cards are also displayed in the store if you want a better view.
The supplies for making them are also in stock.

The Tragic Apple Pie Mishap

My mom has cooked Thanksgiving dinner for as long as I can remember.  While the number of people that come for dinner has decreased, the amount of food is probably the same!  For the past few years, Greg's job is to make the stuffing and mine is to make the pies.

So Thanksgiving morning starts the usual way - grab a couple cups of coffee and begin the food making process.  This year my sister was in town a few days before and was able to help my mom get alot done, so we had an easy morning.  So, after peeling, cutting, and preparing my two apple pies from scratch, including the crust I put them into the oven and my sister, Greg and I went for a run - just a short one.

When we came back (with 3 minutes still on the timer), I walked into the house and it was pretty "cloudy".  I looked into the oven and my pies were black - burnt to a crisp!  Somehow, the oven temperature was changed to 450 degrees.  UGHHHHH

Not only was all my work ruined - there was no apple pie for Thanksgiving :(

Holiday Gift Making in Progress

Some very talented ladies have been busy at Scrapbook Connection making presents for family and friends.
Here are a few of the projects and also photos from our Sunday Crop.

The Importance of Recharging your batteries

I didn't fall off the face of the earth - really.  I meant to post here - I even thought of what I was going to post especially on those nights that my eyes pop open during the night and won't close again until it's almost time to get up!!

Recharging Your Batteries - Part I
We all know it's important to take time for our selves, smell the roses, yada yada.  I was happy that Greg, Alicia and I were able to do that on Veteran's Day.  With the holiday, it was a perfect opportunity to visit our friends Joe and Theresa who live near Cuba, NY.  They live at the end of a dirt road in a log cabin that Joe built using lumber from his land.  Their 200 acres of property are at the end of a dirt road and very quit.  It's the perfect place to recharge - not watching a clock, no computer, just listening to the trees blowing, which is very soothing when so many are all going at once, or watching the cows and boy do we eat!  I couldn't resist this picture of their dog, Rocky.  He loves to put half his body and one leg on the couch and play with his stuffed animal.

Part II - Recharging your Camara Battery
Rocky was the only one who had his picture taken :(
When I went to take a picture of the cows - there was no battery left!   UGH!

Joe raises Scotch Highland cows and a new calf was born this summer I wanted to get a picture of the baby and the others too because you never know who's going to be there the next time you're there!  There was a perfect photo op when one of the cows discovered he could get out of the fence and wondered all over the yard and when Greg and Joe had to fix the fence all the cows marched down and stood around watching them.  It was so funny to see them - it was big happenings on the farm for them!  I'm so bummed that I didn't get those pictures.

BTW the first thing I did when we came home was to put the camara on the charger :)

I post the pictures I took with my newly charged batteries next.

Random Thoughts

Halloween is different now.  Where I live we really do not get any kids trick or treating and Alicia went to her friend's neighborhood so Greg and I didn't need to stay home.  I had a few errands to run and it was great because the only people in the stores were college kids and us old folks!  It was kinda nice.  We then went to get a bite to eat at a local pub around us and it was a ghost town! hee hee.   Everyone was home handing out candy, except us and about 8 other people!

I'm not liking the time change.  It felt like I lost an hour of sleep rather than gain an hour.  I was soooo tired yesterday and on top of that it was dark soooooo early.  As soon as it gets dark, I feel like it's bedtime.  I guess I'm going to have to feed nyseg this year and keep all the lights on so I can trick myself into thinking it's light out!

Did you see the wood organizer for the class on Saturday???  Here's a peek

I did mine in wine because I like wine, but if you take the class you can choose from a few different themes.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the grapes and wine glass are popped up and there are some other embellishments used too.

Don't forget to check your email for coupons this week and I will also be open this Tuesday and Wednesday from Noon -6 pm - Hope to see you this week.

Enjoy your Monday!

Sad News

My friend called me last night to tell me her mother died.  The sad thing is that her father died October 30th of last year and her only sister died about 8 years ago.

I will be off to Buffalo sometime this week for the wake and funeral.  If I have to change hours I will get the word out.

Today will be a day to be thankful for my health, family and friends :)

Scrap Pink - Rainy Weather Survivors

A big hurray to those who braved the horrible rain on Saturday to come to our Breast Cancer Fundraiser.  I know the ladies there completed so many pages that they were an inspiration to me.

Here is a picture of our "pink ladies" busy at work.

I had a fun day with you all - hope you had fun too!  Can't wait until the next crop!

Not Enough Hours In A Day

SOMETIMES I wish I had more hours in a day.
SOMETIMES it's so hard to accomplish everthing on my to-do list.

It never fails that I decide to completely change the store around whenever I have major things going on - like the breast cancer fundraiser, a class, three orders that arrived this week, and Alicia's dance studio's annual garage sale on Friday & Saturday.

So, new tables arrived today - no not from my favorite brown truck:) this time from the Staples truck - I needed to put them in just the right place so there goes moving everything around!  Well, not everything, just everything on the floor.  Everything on the walls will be next!  When you come in to the store, let me konw what you think of the new layout!

All the new products are in the computer and almost in their spot on the wall.  I started setting up for Scrap pink - more to accomplish tomorrow to be ready for Sat.  And the garage sale items are all tagged. I certainly could have done more, but I ran out of tags!!  Oh well, the next one is in the Spring.

Tomorrow is Finish It Friday = I hope I can finish a "paper crafting" project tomorrow - my goal will be to finish . . . 2 cards

See ya soon

Happy Columbus Day!

For those of you with the day off today, enjoy and I hope to see you at the store later.

Family weekend at college was fun.  Not only did we get to spend time with Tyler, but we met one of his roommates and a couple of his friends and we were able to spend time with both Greg and my families.   Tyler's friends seem like good kids and they get along really well.

Tyler is living in a dorm room with 3 other guys and boy was I surprised that 1. all the beds were made, 2.  there was no "stuff" around 3.  the room did not smell!  I wonder -- is it always like that or did they tidy up because of family weekend?????

Back to scrapbook talk - I'm happy with my Finish It Friday - I finished 2 cards that needed to be done by Friday - and on the way to Buffalo I was able to finish an album and prep the next card class.  Melissa and Kathleen were at the store on Friday an made some progress on their work too.  How about the rest of you?  Need some inspiration - come on in on Friday with one or two of your unfinished projects and Finish It!

Well, I'm off to do errands and take Alicia to the dentist and then the store to find an awesome Deal of the Day for those stopping in today!

Today is Finish It Friday

Do you have an unfinished project?  Have a hour or two or three or four on Friday?

Pack that project and come on over to Scrapbook Connection and Get it Done!  Then you will be ready to move on to the next unfinished project - cuz I know mostly everyone has something (s) left undone.

The popcorn machine will be up and running.

Just a reminder that today, October 9th ,I will be closing at 3 pm - then I will be off to see Tyler:)  I bet he has grown more since the last time we saw him.  He's almost as tall as Greg and I don't think he's stopped growing yet.

Hope to see you later today

PS:  I open at 11 am

Prizes are arriving today

I feel like it's Christmas every time a new order comes in. I never remember everything I order so it's a surprise when I get it.   I'm always happy to see that big brown truck pull up and the boxes roll in. Which one to open first????   I know -  I'll open them all at once and rifle through them and then pick one to start pulling everything out!

Today is going to be one of those days! - I have a HUGE order coming in with about 8 or 9 boxes!   There are some things in there for classes, some for the Grand Opening prizes, and more that I can't remember!

Oh - check out the new sign in front of the store.  That arrived yesterday - love that brown truck!
